God, the Universe and other planets. The Urantia Book. Foreword_1

Good morning to you! My name is Sławomir Żydenko, and I am from Poland. Welcome to the blog dedicated to The Urantia Book.

My goal is to locate The Urantia Book in time and space (that is, in the 21st century, on Planet Earth). This means explanation the unknown words appearing in the Book with today’s known ones, and confronting the phenomena described in the Book with the common knowledge in various fields. I will, of course, also comment on the content of the Book, which is the free right of the creator. At the same time, I assure you, that all views and interpretations presented in this material come from me. This is my contribution to make the book easier to understand.

I prepare the text myself in Polish, then translate it into English, German and Russian. If I make a mistake or understand something wrong, please be understanding, and please feel free to comment on it. I want to promote the Urantia Book, even if I will make a mistake from time to time.

The actual authors of the book are extraterrestrial spirits who communicated through the sleeping medium, a person speaking while sleeping. However, the book itself was not created through a medium, but by the method of materialization.

The first contacts with these beings occurred in 1924. The result was the creation of The Urantia Book, which was finally published in 1955. The Urantia Book was ahead of its time in the knowledge it contains. Much has changed in the development of our science since then.

To begin with, I invite you to read a fragment of the original text from the website, www.urantia.org.

I wish you fun!

The Urantia Book

Foreword

IN THE MINDS of the mortals of Urantia—that being the name of your world—there exists great confusion respecting the meaning of such terms as God, divinity, and deity. Human beings are still more confused and uncertain about the relationships of the divine personalities designated by these numerous appellations. Because of this conceptual poverty associated with so much ideational confusion, I have been directed to formulate this introductory statement in explanation of the meanings which should be attached to certain word symbols as they may be hereinafter used in those papers which the Orvonton corps of truth revealers have been authorized to translate into the English language of Urantia.

It is exceedingly difficult to present enlarged concepts and advanced truth, in our endeavor to expand cosmic consciousness and enhance spiritual perception, when we are restricted to the use of a circumscribed language of the realm. But our mandate admonishes us to make every effort to convey our meanings by using the word symbols of the English tongue. We have been instructed to introduce new terms only when the concept to be portrayed finds no terminology in English which can be employed to convey such a new concept partially or even with more or less distortion of meaning.

In the hope of facilitating comprehension and of preventing confusion on the part of every mortal who may peruse these papers, we deem it wise to present in this initial statement an outline of the meanings to be attached to numerous English words which are to be employed in designation of Deity and certain associated concepts of the things, meanings, and values of universal reality.

But in order to formulate this Foreword of definitions and limitations of terminology, it is necessary to anticipate the usage of these terms in the subsequent presentations. This Foreword is not, therefore, a finished statement within itself; it is only a definitive guide designed to assist those who shall read the accompanying papers dealing with Deity and the universe of universes which have been formulated by an Orvonton commission sent to Urantia for this purpose.

Your world, Urantia, is one of many similar inhabited planets which comprise the local universe of Nebadon. This universe, together with similar creations, makes up the superuniverse of Orvonton, from whose capital, Uversa, our commission hails. Orvonton is one of the seven evolutionary superuniverses of time and space which circle the never-beginning, never-ending creation of divine perfection—the central universe of Havona. At the heart of this eternal and central universe is the stationary Isle of Paradise, the geographic center of infinity and the dwelling place of the eternal God.

The seven evolving superuniverses in association with the central and divine universe, we commonly refer to as the grand universe; these are the now organized and inhabited creations. They are all a part of the master universe, which also embraces the uninhabited but mobilizing universes of outer space.

The following unknown terms appear in the text:

Urantia — the word Urantia is a word wholly unknown to people who have not read The Urantia Book. This is the term for Planet Earth in the language of the creators of the Book.

Later in the text, we have an accumulation of concepts in the field of astronomy. Those are:

local universe of Nebadon — this is the term of the Earth’s immediate cosmic environment, but it is not possible to infer to what boundaries it reaches,

superuniverse of Orvonton — this is what the space outside the local universe of Nebadon is called, the boundaries are not defined,

Uversa — it is the name of the capital of the superuniverse of Orvonton, the exact location is not known yet,

seven evolutionary superuniverses — it is the name of a larger structure of the universe to which we belong,

central universe of Havona — it is the name of the centre of a greater universe structure to which we belong,

Isle of Paradise — it is an object in the centre of the central universe of Havona,

grand universe — it is the name of the structure consisting of the seven, superuniverses and the central universe to which our world belongs,

master universe — it is the space extending beyond the boundaries of the grand universe,

and universe of universes — so far there is no explanation.

The above definitions of space objects are not fully explained. I have made the assumption that I am only localizing names that are clearly explained in the text. Unfortunately, it is not clear from the text yet what would allow the exact location of these objects and assigning their current names to them. I will try to place the mentioned objects and associate them with the currently functioning names in the following episode.

What information is the most important in this short chapter? For me, most amazing and shocking is the idea that God is in a certain place in the cosmos. That place, according to Urantia Book, is the Isle of Paradise. Christian doctrine says, however, God was everywhere. At least that’s what I studied in religion lessons.

Another shocking thing is the description of our universe. It is presented factually in a few substantial sentences. We learn from them that the Universe is not chaotic, but ordered and arranged in structures. The whole is presented by spiritual extraterrestrial beings. Modern science about the universe also distinguishes larger structures and names them. At the time of the creation of the Urantia Book, people’s knowledge of the subject was much poorer, which prevented the aforementioned extraterrestrials from naming these structures with earthly names already during the editing of the book. For now, however, we have too little data to solve all the puzzles.

I invite you to visit my blog. Until next time, best regards!
